Rohan Jaitley, the newly elected President of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), has taken charge with a clear focus on transforming Delhi’s cricketing future. Winning by a significant margin of 1,577 votes over his rival, former cricketer Kirti Azad, Jaitley has begun his tenure by demanding accountability and transparency from the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), questioning the need for oversized squads of 25–30 players in age-group tournaments.
As the son of the late Arun Jaitley, a prominent politician and former DDCA president, Rohan Jaitley is determined to honor his father’s legacy while forging his own path. His vision includes establishing a state-of-the-art High Performance Centre (HPC) to refine talent identification and provide world-class training facilities. Aiming to enhance the city’s cricketing infrastructure, Jaitley has also proposed building a new cricket stadium in Delhi, a project that he believes will reinvigorate the sport at both grassroots and professional levels.
Jaitley’s plans are not without challenges. Before the election, Kirti Azad raised concerns about alleged financial irregularities within the DDCA. In response, Jaitley dismissed these allegations as unfounded, suggesting they should have been addressed earlier. He welcomed constructive criticism and ideas from all stakeholders to ensure the association’s progress.
Jaitley’s presidency brings hope for a brighter future for cricket in Delhi, underpinned by bold initiatives, transparency, and a focus on nurturing young talent.
