Rohan Jaitley, the incumbent President of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), officially submitted his nomination papers on Tuesday at Arun Jaitley Stadium. Jaitley is vying for a second term, building on the progress achieved during his presidency.
The DDCA elections, which include positions for five office bearers and seven directors, will take place from December 13th to 15th, with results announced on December 16th. In the previous election, Jaitley secured his position by defeating Vikas Singh. Confident in his leadership, Jaitley is optimistic about continuing his vision for DDCA’s growth and development.
“In terms of preparation, we’ve been doing significant work over the last three years, focusing on cricketing activities, infrastructure development, player welfare, and member inclusion,” Jaitley told IANS.
During his tenure, Jaitley prioritized enhancing player benefits, upgrading infrastructure, and expanding cricketing opportunities. “We delivered 90% of our promises, including pensions, health insurance, infrastructure upgrades, and launching cricket leagues like the Delhi Premier League. Our U-16, U-19, senior, and club-level leagues have hosted over 1,600 games,” he highlighted.
Jaitley also emphasized the support received from various sectors, particularly former cricketers, for initiatives like the pension scheme. “It’s encouraging to see multiple ecosystems supporting these changes. While changes take time, we are already seeing results and expect bigger outcomes soon,” he added.
The election race has another prominent contender—former cricketer-turned-politician Kirti Azad, who filed his nomination on Monday. Jaitley extended his best wishes to Azad, emphasizing the importance of conducting elections with caution and integrity.
Jaitley reiterated his administration’s commitment to transparency, citing streamlined selection processes, financial stability, and improved infrastructure as significant milestones. “We’ve ensured a surplus reserve, resolved financial issues, and upgraded facilities to world-class standards,” he said.
As the election approaches, Jaitley is set to unveil his full panel in the coming days.
