Rohan Jaitley, President of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), announced a series of initiatives to enhance Delhi cricket, particularly focusing on women’s cricket and infrastructure development. Speaking at the DDCA Annual Awards Function held at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Jaitley outlined upcoming plans for women’s cricket leagues, automation of DDCA data, and the establishment of high-performance centres.
The women’s leagues will feature 20-over and 50-over formats, designed to be completed within 90 to 100 days. These leagues will act as precursors to state-level selections, ensuring wider participation and exposure for aspiring players.
Jaitley also shared that DDCA has acquired two grounds from the Delhi government’s Department of Education, located in Bharat Nagar and Vikaspuri. These facilities will host high-performance centres where players—men and women, across all age groups—will train year-round under dedicated coaches, support staff, physiotherapists, and trainers. The centres are expected to be operational by January 2024.
In a move to modernize operations, Jaitley emphasized the adoption of real-time data integration, similar to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). This technological upgrade will streamline data management for Delhi cricket.
During the awards function, DDCA recognized outstanding performances in the 2022–23 league season. The under-15 women’s team, which reached the finals of the BCCI under-15 tournament, was awarded ₹20 lakh, distributed among players and support staff. The under-23 women’s team, which won all six league matches and advanced to the knockouts, also received special mention.
In addition to promoting women’s cricket, Jaitley stressed the importance of introducing multi-day matches in DDCA leagues, aiming to expand the formats beyond T20.
The event concluded with awards distributed to top teams and performers across various divisions of the DDCA League and T20 tournaments, recognizing their achievements in the 2022–23 season.
